What can we do? We are forming an organization, a very large organization, the Take Back the NWTF Committee, whose goal is to do exactly that – to take back the NWTF from the current Board of Directors that has seized control of the Federation and displaced its long-time management.   The Take Back the NWTF Committee is formed as a South Carolina Nonprofit Corporation.

The corporation is organized, and at all times shall be operated, exclusively for the promotion of social welfare and specifically to ensure that the National Wild Turkey Federation (the "Federation") conducts and observes the Federation's purposes and mission as outlined in the Federation's charter and other governing instruments and operates in a manner that effectively conducts the Federation's conservation mission.  The corporation is not organized for the purpose of carrying on a trade or business for profit.  No part of the net earnings of the corporation shall inure to the benefit of, or be distributed to, its directors, officers, trustees, employees, agents or other private shareholders or persons, except that the corporation shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for goods and services rendered and to make distributions in furtherance of its purposes.

I am Michael Tull.  I have agreed to serve as Chairman of the Take Back The NWTF Committee.  I have served for 28 years in a number of roles as a NWTF volunteer including National President and Chairman of the Board.  I recentltly resigned my position on the NWTF Board in protest of the actions of the current Board.  Also, resigning from the Board in protest is Earl Groves, NWTF’s longest-serving officer and Board Member, who played a vital role in building the NWTF into a powerful force for conservation.  Earl served as President, Chairman of the Board, and for twenty-three years as Treasurer.  He was also the first recipient of the Five Star Award, NWTF’s highest award to a volunteer.  Copies of our resignation letters can be seen here.

We are just getting started.  If you are willing to help lead this effort by serving on the Take Back The NWTF Committee, we welcome your assistance.  We have a big job ahead of us.  It is our firm belief that the current Board of Directors of The National Wild Turkey Federation –  many of whom we consider friends – are not capable of leading the NWTF.  Their actions to date have shown us that.  It is our intention to organize a group large enough to exert the pressure on the current Board necessary to force their resignations.  We need as many members as possible.

Serving on the committee requires a commitment on the part of each of you to raise a minimum of $2,000 for the Take Back The NWTF Fund.  This is something that anyone, who is serious about saving the NWTF, can do.  We are going to have to put our money where our mouth is.  We are not going to win this fight by complaining.  We’ve got to get busy and do something about it.

We will incur substantial legal expense in this endeavor and must have the funding to publicize this effort widely if we are to succeed. Your money for this effort will be administered and used for the purpose intended.  We cannot afford to waste any our resources if we are to win this battle.  Join this fight. In the past months, we have had countless conversations with members who are in shock – members who have lost faith in the current NWTF Board.  We have lost faith in the current NWTF Board as well.  Our dedication to the NWTF compels us to take action.  We feel these actions are necessary to prevent further harm to the organization.

A firestorm of protest is building.  As the NWTF membership learns the true story of the damage that has been done to its great organization by a misguided Board, the protest will intensify rapidly.

The Take Back the NWTF Committee is a South Carolina nonprofit corporation.  You will be signing up to be a member of that entity.  Please note that your contributions are not tax deductible.

Please note that NO monies of the NWTF or any of its local chapters should be sent to us for this cause.  Those monies should continue to be applied for the purposes for which they were donated.  Your donations for this cause must come from your own pockets.
